Design & Materials

The updated sofa design features deeper seats—23.5 inches to be precise—plus angled backrests with built-in zoned lumbar support. An extra plush, body-hugging comfort layer on the seat provides added support and comfort whether you’re sitting, laying or lounging.

And let’s talk about the pillows—they’re designed to be multipurpose, so you can use them for lounging, cuddling and even sleeping once the sofa is converted to a bed. 

Speaking of sleep, with a simple flip, your Koala goes from sofa to bed. And not just any bed—the Koala Sofa Bed features a foam base layer with Kloudcell™, an open-cell breathable foam designed as a responsive, supportive comfort layer that offers pressure relief without the heat retention or sinking feeling that traditional memory foam can have. Zero Disturbance™ tech design provides motion isolation for anyone sharing the bed, and a zip-off, washable topper helps you keep things fresh.

We’re happy to find that Koala uses recycled and sustainable materials in the construction of their sofa beds:

• Recycled polyester fabrics and frame linings
• FSC® timber, which is wood sourced from responsibly-managed forests that meet strict environmental, social and economic standards.
• CertiPUR-US® certified foams, which means the foam is free from harmful chemicals, has low VOC emissions and meets the organization’s standards for durability.

Fabric Options

The Koala Sofa Bed comes in a range of palette-pleasing colors inspired by the Australian landscape. The Classic fabric collection features five colors and is designed to be a more basic fabric choice that doesn’t compromise on quality. Koala’s Premium fabric collection features three colors and a premium, ultra-soft feel.

• Koala’s fabrics feature a durability rating of 45,000+ rubs on the Martindale scale. This is a professional measurement that tests how much friction a fabric can handle before showing signs of wear. Anything over 30,000 rubs is considered commercial grade.
• All fabrics are specially treated for resistance to water-based stains and are completely removable and washable. 
• All fabrics are rigorously tested for a wide range of “forever chemicals” known as PFAS, so you can cuddle worry-free knowing your sofa is free from these harmful substances.

Pricing

The Koala Sofa Bed price is based on the size and fabric you choose. At the time we were researching for this review, the twin XL size ranged between $1,450 and $1,550, the full was $1,850 to $1,950 and the queen was $1,990 to $2,090. Koala often advertises a special offer of up to $250 off when you sign up for their mailing list. One other point to consider is financing your purchase. Koala offers financing through Shop Pay, with as low as zero percent APR.

Shipping & Warranty

• Shipping: The Koala Sofa Beds ships in one to two days via FedEx. The delivery timeframe ranges from two to seven days depending on your location.

• Package size: Your sofa bed will be delivered in five separate boxes. For the queen size sofa bed, the boxes range between 20 to 54 pounds. 

• Warranty: The five-year warranty covers repair or replacement of any product with a manufacturing or material defect. Like most warranties, things like normal wear and tear, natural characteristics of the materials and damage caused by environmental factors or improper use are not covered.
• Returns: Koala Sofa Beds purchased directly from the company come with a 120-day trial. If you change your mind, contact Koala to arrange a free pickup and full refund.
