Performance & Features
We found the Contour Face to be high performing and chockfull of features. Everything down to the LED placement and materials used in construction are chosen with purpose and guided by clinical evidence to be the most effective. Thousands of user reviews online cite ease of use and noticeable results, including brighter, smoother, more hydrated skin.
Here’s a look at some of the notable features of this device:
Wavelengths
The skin absorbs light at different wavelengths. Red, blue, green and yellow all reach different depths or layers of the skin to trigger the cellular responses known to improve skin health and appearance. This is why wavelength is considered to be the most important factor in choosing an LED therapy device for the face.
The Omnilux Contour Face device uses a combination of two wavelengths, both of which have been scientifically proven to support skin health.
-
Red Light (633nm): The red light wavelength, measured in nanometers (nm), helps increase cellular energy, kickstarting cellular renewal to reduce inflammation and redness, correct pigmentation and photodamage, and boost circulation for a brighter, more vibrant complexion.
-
Near-Infrared Light (830nm): This wavelength targets the deeper fibroblast cells in the dermis, which contribute to the formation of new collagen and elastin proteins. This results in firmer, plumper and younger looking skin.
Clinical Research
Clinical studies are important because they show the efficacy and safety of an LED device. Omnilux’s technology has been used in more than 40 peer reviewed published clinical studies, which provide legitimacy to their claims and benefits. If you’d like to learn more about these clinical studies, check out the Clinical Bibliography on the Omnilux website, where you can review the studies as they relate to various concerns, such as acne treatment, skin rejuvenation and more.
Construction Quality
In order for your skin to absorb the benefits of LED therapy, you need proper output, intensity and proximity to your skin, and this is largely determined by the quality of construction and materials used.
Omnilux’s Contour Face is made with medical-grade silicone, which enables the device to mold to the curves of your face and absorb as much light as possible. Hard-shell or non-flexible masks may leave areas of the face untreated, leading to uneven results.
Additionally, The Omnilux Contour Face has sturdy, high quality straps that hold the device in place, allowing the LEDs to sit directly on the skin for a higher concentration of light at a lower output, which delivers safe, even results.
Number & Placement of LEDs
The number and placement of LEDs in a red light therapy mask is critical in ensuring complete and even coverage of the treatment area. Too few bulbs, or bulbs spaced too far apart, can lower the light concentration and compromise results. But more is not necessarily better, since the irradiance of each LED bulb will naturally spread out across the skin.
Omnilux strikes this balance with a total of 132 LEDs—66 red and 66 near-infrared—in their Contour Face device, positioned with minimal space between the LEDs to facilitate more even results. The Contour Face also features Omnilux’s advanced dual chip technology, which pairs a red and near-infrared LED in each bulb for simultaneous absorption by the skin.
FDA & Safety Clearances
All of Omnilux’s devices have been FDA-cleared for the U.S. market, TGA-approved for Australia and CE-certified for the European Union. These certifications and approvals ensure the safety and efficacy of the device, and is an important distinction to look for in an LED light therapy mask. As an additional measure of safety, Omnilux also ensures all of their devices conform to international safety standards, including eye safety.
