What is the NuWave OxyPure Smart Air Purifier?
In the world of home air purifiers, this one ranks among the most advanced for many very good—and data-backed—reasons. First on the list: Its filtration system. The OxyPure employs five (yup, five) filters that work together to remove pollutants from indoor air. And that air inside your home can get pretty dirty—as much as five times more than outdoor air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
How well does that five-filter system work? According to independent third-party testing, the OxyPure eliminates airborne allergens and pathogens in up to 1,200 square feet of space (with two air exchanges per hour). It captures and traps 100 percent of pollen, dust, smoke, pet dander and other particles as small as 0.09 microns (as compared to 0.30 microns for many other models). Even more impressive: It was also shown to eliminate 99.99 percent of bacteria, 99.96 percent viruses, and 99.95 percent molds within two hours of detection. But wait, there’s more: This purifier also eliminates harmful ozone gas in your home 70 times more effectively than EPA requirements. And it removes 100 percent of odors and smoke, as well as toxic gases, like benzene and formaldehyde, at a rate of 95 percent.
Excellent efficacy numbers aside, the OxyPure’s high-tech features also help put this home air purifier one smart step ahead of the rest. With Wi-Fi enabled technology, it allows you to track, monitor, and operate the purifier from pretty much anywhere using the NuWave Connect app and your smartphone. Plus, it’s designed with a 360-degree air intake (so air enters from all sides, not just one); automatically detects overall air quality and odors; and when set to auto mode, adjusts to one of six fan speeds to clean the air quickly.
Even with all that technology, operating the OxyPure won’t break the bank. Three of OxyPure’s filters are reusable for up to 20 years; the fourth and fifth, 2-in-1 HEPA/ carbon filter lasts up to a year before needing to be replaced—which helps cuts costs on filter replacement. (Plus, if you purchase during one of their promotions, you’ll get an additional eight HEPA/Carbon filters with your OxyPure purchase—so that’s nine years of use before any extra filter purchases. The OxyPure also has unique energy-saving modes that, when activated, can be…well, money-saving.
How it Works
The NuWave OxyPure Smart Air Purifier has a 5-stage filtration system: That’s five filters, doing five different things to clean your air. The first is a Pre-Filter, which is made of durable stainless steel and designed to capture larger pollutants and allergens from the air, like pollen, pet hair and dander. Filter two is a high-tech Bio-Guard filter—it uses 8000V of electrostatic charge (or Electrostatic Precipitation) to capture 100 percent of pollutants as small as 0.09 microns, and eliminate up to 99.99 percent of airborne bacteria, and 99.96 percent of airborne flu viruses, and mold within two hours. The third filter is for ozone emissions removal, as well as other harmful airborne chemicals. Ground level ozone concentrations (measured in parts per billion or ppb) varies depending on where you live. The national average is about 70ppb, which is also the current EPA standard. OxyPure’s ozone filters lowers ozone concentration in your home to 1ppb. Filters four and five come in a combo HEPA/Carbon Filter, which not only removes allergens, but also household fumes, volatile organic compounds (or VOCs, such as formaldehyde, benzene and other cleaning chemicals), and odors. An indicator light tells you when it’s time to clean or replace a filter. You can wash the pre-filter and Bio-Guard filter and vacuum the ozone filter—and all three are reusable for up to 20 years. The HEPA/Carbon filters last about one year before needing to be replaced.
The OxyPure is equipped with a full range of six fan speeds, from gentle breeze to turbo. Sensors monitor air quality and odors, and show you how clean or dirty your air is via a color-coded display. Put the purifier on “auto” and it will automatically adjust the fan speed, depending on the quality of the air. You can also set OxyPure to whatever mode or setting that suits you best. In “Ultimate Clean” mode, the fans operate on gentle breeze speed as long as your home air is clean. If the quality dips or odor increases, the fans will ramp up to the highest speed until air quality is restored, and then return to speed level one. Engage “Eco-Friendly” mode and the purifier stays off until it detects poor air quality. Then it runs on auto mode until the air quality is green and good, and then shuts off again. When it’s time to hit the sack, “sleep” mode turns off all indicator lights and allows for flexible fan speeds and noise levels so you can rest better.
